Identity Crisis

Let me start with
Romans 8: 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope. 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Now that I know that is a lot of verse but it is a great continuation to my last writings here. These groaning’s we feel are not as “out of place” as we might feel. It goes hand in hand with our present time. Romans 8 goes on to speak of the power of being connected to the Father. If God is for us, whom can be against us. No one! Verse 37 in particular is one of my favorites and in short it says we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS! Notice that verse 23 it says “Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.”

Adoption to sonship I think is a phrase that can bring about such a profound understanding. First of all being a son to a king makes you an heir by birthright. So what are you an heir to? In this answer lies forward movement and perseverance power far past our wildest dreams. Romans 8:17 says that we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Understand that knowing who you are and your rightful place can be one of your most valuable tools during these dark times. Knowing that there is nothing that can separate you from the love of God can be the fuel you need to get up and keep moving. To look in the mirror and face this unknown person staring back at you with a sense of power and victory and affirming that you are an heir. You are a son or daughter to a king. Not just any king. A King whose rule stretches past our limitations and boundaries both in earth as it is in heaven. Psalms 22:10 says that from birth I was cast on you: from my mother’s womb you have been my God. So this has always been your destiny.

Isaiah 49:1 Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. Meaning God has placed His calling and gifts in your life since before your conception. Romans 11:29 says that Gods gifts and his calling are irrevocable. Now if that be true that God knew you and placed his call on your life from the moment you were conceived, and this calling can’t be revoked, how amazing it is that we have the ability and opportunity to be alive during this time. We live in a time in history where there is so much rapid change happening that today and everything in it becomes outdated before the day is through. Where our feelings have become our guide to our next steps and our movements and because we can’t understand why we feel this way we shut down and fall out. When I say we I mean i. Proverbs 3:5 says lean not on your own understanding but trust in the Lord with all your heart. What I do know is that God loves us with a love we can’t fathom. Therefore, what He is doing in our life will benefit us as long as we trust and follow him through this darkness. The gifts that He has given you can’t be taken away. Finding out what those gifts and calling are can be the key to unlock success and an unspeakable joy into your life.

You are more than conquerors. God promised that He would always be with you. He would never leave you nor forsake you. This is not something we need to pray for or ask for as it is has already been promised to us. It takes a knowledge and a faith to move forward in this belief. To walk strong in these shoes of peace that have been fitted especially for you. You are an heir! Amen amen!

Lord,
Thank you so much for the wake-up call that you’ve placed in our lives. Thank you for allowing us to live and serve in such a time as this. I want to continue to speak peace, speak emotional and spiritual prosperity into our lives. Continue to give us clarity on where that light at the end of the tunnel is coming from. Oh, how bright it shines. Show us the way Lord so that we can show others the way as well.
In the most amazingly Holy Name of Jesus Christ our co-heir
Amen
