He was stripped of his clothing
Beaten, bloody, and bruised
All the while His magnificence withholding
He endured the thorns that pierced so deep
That left Him wide open for the scolding
Of all those that He helped and healed
And revealed the the real when off their eyes the scales fell
Leaving our wounds showing
For us He modeled humility in the face of captivity
He took on Himself the floggings and welps of which we were so greatly deserving
This picture set the stage for His resurrection
It sealed the deal for our eternal protection
From David crying out in pastures
to Jesus on the cross asking to have this cup removed to avoid this disaster
to us out in the pews paying dues as well as the most revered pastors
have all lifted their head to the heavens
to let out a shrieking fear cry
sorrowfully drowned
My God My God where are you now
When I feel like my confession will bring about permanent rejection
My God my God
Where is your concession to if not alleviate then at least abbreviate my souls dark congestion
He is in the business of resurrecting and erecting
With His death I have new life that He is slowly perfecting
He who has seated on the throne says “I am making everything new”
He deserves every ounce of my praise for casting out the shame and disgrace for my old ways
It’s because we are covered under His grace
Because we are living within Christ, the ultimate sacrifice that the new creation has come to take the olds place
It is in His nail scarred hands that He holds the entire earth
Since the stone had been rolled away
He has reversed the curse
Redeeming all within the universe
He was not the grand exception but the gracious rule
Christ is not an ideal to be worshiped but He is the capacity to be lived into
He has risen and is alive
To Him no glory can be denied
It is because He died that death has lost its sting and has no more claim on our souls
He deserves all of our praise
And all glory unto Him we sing
The sacrificial Lamb is alive and well
It is with an open mouth and hands raised
That I thank Jesus Christ for dying to save my life
And rising again three days later
Becoming the ultimate prescription to cure my every sickness
As I stand here humbly in such an unworthy stance
In the proclamation of me being so undeserving of such a great romance
And this is why
My Messiah is My Saviour
Has paid all of my dues
Your Messiah is your Saviour
And this is the good news!
